By Train

Rishikesh has its own railway station (Rishikesh Railway Station), but the connectivity is limited. Most travelers prefer to take a train to Haridwar Junction, which is around 25 km away. Haridwar is well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and other major cities. Some popular trains include:

  • Shatabdi Express (Delhi to Haridwar) – A fast and comfortable option.
  • Yoga Express (Ahmedabad to Haridwar) – Ideal for travelers from Gujarat.
  • Jan Shatabdi (Lucknow to Haridwar) – A budget-friendly and quick train.

From Haridwar, you can take a bus, taxi, or auto-rickshaw to reach Rishikesh in 40–45 minutes.

By Road

Rishikesh is well-connected by road and can be easily reached via NH 58, which links it to Delhi, Haridwar, and Dehradun. If you’re planning a road trip, here are the approximate travel times:

  • Delhi to Rishikesh – 5–6 hours (240 km)
  • Haridwar to Rishikesh – 40–45 minutes (25 km)
  • Dehradun to Rishikesh – 1.5 hours (45 km)
